Wit and sarcasm got me this far so why stop now.
Status Updates:
I’m writing this on Wednesday evening. I normally do it on Thursday morning while I drink coffee and weep that I still need to work a day job. If the tone of my writing seems different, then my plan is to blame my current lack of coffee cup.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I might get a break on Sunday but then I’m right back into meetings on Monday. Did I mention that I seem to be volunteering for things that I probably shouldn’t? I don’t mind being busy but it beats up on my drawing schedule. I am currently fortunate enough to have a solid backlog and some good ideas sketched up. That means I should have potentially enjoyable humor for you at least through most of May.
Speaking of potentially enjoyable, here’s some comics.
Adulting
I need an opinion here. Should I add color to these comics or just post the grayscale? I submitted them to New Yorker. They made no move on my first batch 10. After 2 months I decided to pull the first batch back. I submitted new comics and I really want to share these. If you have experience with submitting to New Yorker I’d love to hear your thoughts on the process.

Weekly Ink Sketch Book
I’m having fun with my cheap printer paper sketch book and a fountain pen. My process is intentionally uncomplicated. I get up, eat, dust off the eyeballs, read a bit and when something catches me I draw something related to that. Usually in a couple days I have no idea what it was that inspired me.
For example… what is this guy?
I feel this guys mood everyday lately.
This one I did on Wednesday.. I was reading a Cul De Sac comic.
What's Next:
I’m helping plan a Memorial Day Ceremony and monument dedication. My Legion Set a new War Memorial stone last Friday.
I also build a new shelf for my office.
What I'm Reading/Doing:
I’ve been to scattered to pick up Wind and Truth so instead I grabbed a book I’ve been meaning to read for years and started it. Old Man’s War by john Scalzi has me hooked. In fact when I finish this I will head off to read that.
I like the B&W! Not a comic artist, but for what it's worth.
Great post! For the cartoons, while I love B&W, though I have some color in my strips - I tend to think that the color adulting one might be the funnier as the kind of sunniness there from the colors puts the gag in better relief. But I'm on the fence about the concerns one - a color version may be funnier but the gag workd in B&W, and same for the friendship one - it could be as funny in B&W.
I also love the memorial. To have been Steven Wasson - the one guy from there to lose his life in Vietnam - sobering. And would John Stein, the sole one to have lost his life in Korea, be related to the Steins who lost theirs in WW1?
BTW - you were in the Navy? Me too - 1980-85.
