Public Flogging - Holiday Memories Edition
I still want to start a nightclub called The Naughty List
Welcome to the first ever Holiday edition of Public Flogging. I’ll be sharing holiday comics from ages past that I still make me grin like a dummy. It’s a little long but should be worth scrolling through.
Robo-Santa - 12/13/2007
I love the comics I was making in 2007 - 2008. I was comfortable in my own skin. I really felt like I was being silly and fun and just worried less about what went on paper. This version of “Madscott” reflected how I was feeling about my hair. Reading it now I kind of want to dress up as Robo Santa next year and see if families want a photo.
Check it Again - 12/24/2007
I’m not a big gift guy at Christmas but you better believe that if Santa showed up I’d get mine.
Gift Shaker 12/21/2009
Something of a family joke. My Brother-in-law and I are not allowed to sit by each other at gift openings because we can get competitive at guessing the gift inside the box. We’re also pretty accurate.
Snowman - 12/05/2012
This one still gets a lot of feedback online but mostly because it’s a mashup “fan comic” of other comics.
This led into the “thin years” I was still drawing but I was working a job that would periodically remind us that they do watch our social media and encouraged us to “post appropriately”. It was a buzz kill and I shouldn’t have listened because in the end they were full of bull shit.
Growing List - 12/10/2020
Holiday Cat - 12/24/2020
I remember very little from this time. I managed to only make a dozen comics in 2020. Some of them I like quite a lot but like many of you it was a rough few years.
Live Santa Stream 12/13/2022
2022 was the year I installed medibang on a tablet but I was trying to use a horrible pen and just hated it. The quality wasn’t horrible but I just didn’t understand the tools yet.
Santa Skulls 12/04/2023
More like Go Go Go 12/13/2023
The Other List 12/18/2023
Union Strong 12/25/2023
2023 was a pretty good year artistically for me. I came out of my slump. I started using my tablet to draw more. I became more present after a couple years of wandering through the fog.
I also want to thank you all for helping make 2024 fantastic. I know I’m in no one’s top 10 list but I hope to keep making comics I am proud of in the future. There’s still a couple of holiday comics to come this year. I hope that all of you have a beautiful 2025.
