Public Flogging for 1/9/2026
I'm in no rush. If I'm going to hell I may as well walk there.
Status Updates:
Before I get too far… THANK YOU for continuing to be here. This newsletter is at 78 subscribers with even more casual readers.
So… we’re here again. We’re at the end of another week filled with news that I need to carefully apply to my brain. I don’t need to risk boiling over.
A little back story. I grew up in the Twin Cities. Minneapolis was where we went to feel like we were being risky. The reality was they had the better comic shops and weird stores.
My Grandmother grew up in Powderhorn Park. She attended Roosevelt High School shortly after it opened back in the 1920’s. My family has deep roots there. It has ALWAYS been a working class neighborhood filled with immigrants and those seeking “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”.
My heart aches seeing this all happen.
Let’s change gears and do something less stressful.
The Comics:
I might need more than a coffee machine but if 2026 is like 2025 I might need a box to live in.
I'm strongly considering a removal of social media from my phone.. maybe most of them. I'm probably getting ready to delete instagram forever.
Travel is important for a well rounded life. I still plan to hit all the national parks in my lifetime.
It's always the quiet ones you need to look for. This comic kind of fell flat. I liked it but I think I needed to be more obvious with what was happening.
Maybe next time I would do an alley background with an unconscious mugger.
Some extras:
I’m due for another Rough Patch post but I’m proud of a few of these.

I applaud the cat comic. You're branching into telling visual stories. Your character work is strong, and you'll really capture your audience as your art takes a more central role in storytelling.
Love these! The first one is especially a gem. I liked the "quiet one" too - kind of a "I'm walking and chewing gum and could start a revolution" air. Great stuff!
