"it's a sword it's not meant to be safe"
Status Updates:
I had an entertaining moment at the family holiday gathering this year. I was in the garage with a relative and I casually dropped “I’m a professional cartoonist now”. His reaction was fun. He gets excited and says “You can do that?” and then he course corrects with “someone is paying you to do that?”.
I explained about how I joined the National Cartoonists Society (NCS) this year and no, I’m not getting paid by anyone other than myself. Which led into a conversation about independent art and online publishing and down the rabbit until we found ourselves talking about art on snowboards.
That how I know that my niece married a good guy.
The Comics:
Santa brought me a Kamvas 13 (Gen 3) and this is the first strip I took from pencil roughs on paper to digital inks. I think I'm going to like it. I now just need to find out what all the buttons in Clip Studio do.
Club Santa - This one is as innocent as you want it to be. He might be going to a real milk and cookies club or possibly a euphemistic milk and cookies club.
I also did a lot of scrap paper drawing this week. Many of these end up as comics. This one is getting digital treatment currently.
Gift Giving:
I gave this one to my wife as a “get off the naughty list free card”. Do you give art as gifts? I always feel weird giving them as gifts when they could just wander in my office at any time and take some.
Have you printed off your copy of my NOPE card?
What else am I doing:
I finished the final book in The Bolitho Series. It’s all nautical fiction and set in 1768 - 1815 England. It’s a special series to me because my father and I read it together. We would buy and swap copies of the book. When he passed away I gathered up the collection and found that I hadn’t read the final book yet.

Ha! What a great idea, that NOPE card!
